A Digital Product Passport for bikes is built from the product data in your ERP and PLM and the battery and component data Trace collects from suppliers. It stays on the frame for life: registration, warranty, service history and ownership in one scan. From 18 February 2027 the e-bike battery carries its own digital battery passport behind the same code, under the EU Battery Regulation.

Bike passport questions, answered

Does Tappr provide the battery passport e-bikes need in 2027?
The battery passport’s exact technical requirements are being finalised under the EU Battery Regulation, so no vendor can claim final compliance today. What Tappr does is build your product passports on the standards the battery passport draws on, QR data carriers, structured machine-readable data and unique identifiers, and collect the battery supply-chain data through Trace, so the passport you launch now evolves with the requirements rather than being rebuilt for them.
Does a Tappr passport meet the EU’s ESPR requirements for bikes?
Bikes are not in the first wave of ESPR passport categories, their rules come later in the working plan, so there is nothing final to comply with yet. The e-bike battery passport arrives first, in February 2027, and the data you structure for it becomes your full bike passport when ESPR reaches the category.
What product data do I need before I can launch?
Less than you’d think to start: your product master data, model, components, specs and origin, which usually lives in your ERP, PIM or a spreadsheet. Richer fields like battery and supply-chain evidence come after launch, collected from your suppliers through Trace, so you go live on what you have and deepen the passport over time.
How does the passport get onto the bike?
As a QR code on a frame sticker or laser-etched plate, or an NFC tag in the head tube. Codes follow GS1 Digital Link, and printing runs through your existing workflow: Tappr’s in-plant printing works with NiceLabel and BarTender.
Can I run several brands from one account?
Yes. Tappr supports multi-brand setups with full white labelling: each brand keeps its own design and guidelines while your team manages everything in one place.
